Discussion on Sustainable Development of Calcium Silicate Board/Fiber Cement Board Industry in China
In order to realize the sustainable development of China's calcium silicate board/fiberboard industry, referring to the countermeasures and experiences implemented by some well-known foreign counterparts and combining with the actual situation of our country, the selection and transportation of raw materials, energy saving, water saving and environmental protection in the production process, product variety, quality and durability, and product response are discussed. The effects of use, maintenance and waste on the sustainability of calcium silicate board and autoclaved fibre reinforced cement board were discussed.
In 1987, UN first put forward the strategy of "sustainable development". At the UN Conference on Environment and Development in 1992, all countries unanimously endorsed it. After the meeting, UN added a working group on "Sustainable Product Development". At present, "sustainability" is regarded as an important index to evaluate products in the world.
In the past ten years, China's calcium silicate board/fiberboard industry has developed rapidly. The total annual production capacity of the whole country has increased from less than 30 million to 200 million by the end of the last century. According to the projection of the Planning Institute, it is possible to increase to 300 million feet in 2010.
